Andrii, father of two little girls, was forcibly recruited into the Ukrainian army and had to leave his family to defend his country.

Andrii and his wife Tetiana have two young daughters aged 5 and 11. After losing their home in a Russian bombing raid in March 2022, Andrii’s family is receiving support through a sponsorship project from kleine herzen in collaboration with SaveUkraine. The godfather, Alexander O., has been in regular contact with the family since the beginning and supports them financially. When Andrii informed him of his situation, Alexander reacted immediately, met with Andrii and gave him a laptop that he needed to work at the front and communicate with Tetiana. An act of brotherhood and humanity.

Andrii tells...

Our family was founded in 2013, and our daughters were born five years apart. We inherited a house in need of repair and spent nine years renovating it. Just before the holidays in February 2022, we replaced almost all household appliances. But on February 24, the war began in Ukraine. On March 4, we decided to move to the Carpathians to protect the children from the war. At the end of March, our house was destroyed by bombing.

Before the war, we were happy and planning our future. After the destruction, it was hard for me to look at our old home. In May, my family and I wanted to return, but we had nowhere to go. We were in debt and had no place to rent an apartment. Fortunately, a volunteer offered to put us up for three months at boarding school №4 in Pushcha-Vodytsia. Time passed quickly, and when we had to move, another volunteer helped us find a new house in our village, installing gas and windows, and repairing the roof.

This story is by no means unique; hundreds of thousands of families have experienced it or are experiencing it. I dedicate this article to all families affected by war.

I often think of you who live in a country at war and wonder every morning if you will survive the day. I have the privilege of living in a stable and peaceful European country. I appeal to the politicians who came to power through democratic elections to put aside their personal interests and devote themselves entirely to peace so that Andrii and Tatiana can live happily with their children.

I would like to thank sponsor Alexander O. from the bottom of my heart for the valuable support he is giving Andrii's family during this difficult time. His generous help is of great importance and is greatly appreciated by all of us.

kleine herzen has supported 25 war-affected families since the beginning of the war, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors.

We must not lose our humanity!
