"Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but of looking together in the same direction."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

On June 13th, we experienced far more than just a wedding.

An extraordinary story, born from a simple act of solidarity: sponsoring a child in Ukraine.

As part of the sponsorship project of kleine herzen Martin became godfather to the young Slavik.
Joanna is his foster mother — and has been caring for numerous children with great dedication for many years.

Nothing was planned.
And yet, in the midst of war, their paths crossed.

Engagement led to encounters.

A meeting turned into love.

On their wedding day, they shared their happiness:

Instead of gifts, they supported children from Odessa — children who were displaced by the war and who continue to carry hope despite their fear.

Thanks to their initiative and the generosity of their families and friends, these children can escape the conflict for a few days, take a breather… and simply be children again in children's holiday camps in Europe.

As a token of their gratitude, the children of Odessa created small ceramic cats – colorful and unique.
Far more than mere objects, they are an expression of their resilience and their extraordinary ability to create beauty even in the darkest moments.

The story of Martin and Joanna embodies a conviction that has always accompanied us:

A sincere commitment can change lives.

Sometimes one.
Sometimes many.

And sometimes – quite unexpectedly – our own as well.

We sincerely thank Martin, Joanna, and their families and friends for their trust and exemplary generosity.

Their commitment is a source of inspiration – and living proof that even in a fragile world it is possible to create stories that are driven by meaning, humanity and a future.
