A big thank you to Vienna Mission for Ukraine, IKEA and Save Ukraine

Thanks to the commitment and support of Vienna Mission for Ukraine was it possible 53 IKEA cots with blankets, pillows and sheets, diapers and IKEA children's equipment for babies and toddlers at our partner Save Ukraine to deliver in Kyiv.

Vienna Mission for Ukraine is a non-profit organization with more than 200 volunteers from the international community dedicated to helping refugees from Ukraine and displaced people in Ukraine. Their support consists in particular in the transport of people and urgent needs between Vienna and Ukraine as well as in the support of refugees in Vienna on a case-by-case basis.

Save Ukraine has supported hundreds of families evacuated from combat zones at its five Centers of Hope and Healing since the beginning of the war. The need for cots and baby equipment is urgent.

We thank IKEA Austria for their generosity.

The current humanitarian situation in Ukraine

The war against Ukraine has triggered a dramatic humanitarian crisis. Since the war began, more than a quarter of the population have fled their homes and sought refuge abroad or in regions of Ukraine further away from the violence.

According to UNHCR:

  • – 5,1 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine (as of May 2023).
  • – More than 6,2 million refugees from Ukraine are registered worldwide (as of July 2023).
  • – Around 17,6 million people will be in need of humanitarian assistance in 2023.

The humanitarian situation remains dire as people in Ukraine face deaths and injuries from indiscriminate attacks and unexploded ordnance, as well as basic necessities caused by destroyed homes, displacement, disrupted or overwhelmed public services and reduced job opportunities become.
